Join the MCUA as a new Umpire
Have you ever wanted to put on the white jacket? Are you nearing the end of your playing career and would love to give something back to the game?
Well here you will find some information on how to start your journey to becoming an umpire with the MCUA...
ECB Umpire Courses
The England & Wales Cricket board are always offering courses for New Umpires all year round. You will need to complete one of these courses to begin your journey to becoming an umpire. Check out our News page for upcoming umpire courses provided by the ECB. The Liverpool & District Cricket Competition regularly offers incentives to candidates who go on to join the MCUA and umpire in the L&DCC.
Membership and DBS
If not already, you will need to apply to become a member of the Association of Cricket Officials (ACO). To do this please visit England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) - The Official Website of the ECB complete the ACO membership application form and email this to ecb.aco@ecb.co.uk The ECB will then initiate your DBS check and you will receive an email asking you to submit further ID information. Once done please then contact Kevin Wilson (willonotout@gmail.com or 07887 617940) to complete the process. You will then receive your ACO membership number in due course.

MCUA Membership
You will then be invited to join the MCUA by filling out an MCUA Membership form which will be emailed to you by the Association Secretary.
Who's The Umpire
The MCUA use a website called whostheumpire to appoint umpires to fixtures in the Liverpool & District Competition and various other fixtures. Please register for an account by clicking the link below then clicking register at the top of the page.
Kit & Equipment
This can be purchased at either ecbacoshop.co.uk or Icon Sports (Link to shop at the top of this page). The ACO Shop, for which you will need to have your ACO number before purchase, has a wide range of items, approximately a 48 hour deliver for non-branded in stock items whereas Icon Sports tends to be less expensive but with much longer delivery times.
The MCUA will always help you in your journey as an umpire by offering periodic training using Continuous Professional Development
